NEPAL ON THE BASIS OF TOPOGRAPHY
On the basis of terrain, the territory of Nepal can be divided into three large provinces from north to south respectively.
Classification of Districts as per Local Government Operation Act, 2074 (Certification on 29 September, 2074): -
1) Mountainous districts: 21
districts
Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Manang, Mustang, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Bajura, Bajhang, Darchula, Dhading, Ramechhap, Gorkha, Rukum (East).
2) Hill districts: 28 districts
Panchthar, Ilam, Terathum, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Kavrepalanchok, Nuwakot, Lamjung, Tanahu, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Rukum (West), Rolpa, Pyuthan, Salyan. , Achham, Baitadi, Dadeldhura.
3) Terai districts: 18 districts
Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta West), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Banke, Bardia, Kailali, Kanchanpur.
